Who’s who in Same Day Delivery Services?

 

There has been much buzz about same day delivery. Here are four companies that utilize the gig economy and offer same day delivery services for e-commerce and retail shipments. Uber, Go Share, Deliv and DHL Metro Parcel are the leading players in the industry. Amazon also provides same day delivery in metro areas with Amazon Flex. However, Amazon Flex is geared toward Amazon deliveries only.

 

Uber has a service offering called UberRUSH. It is geared toward small and large businesses. Some of the retailers on the program are Walmart, Nordstrom, 1800Flowers and T-Mobile. It is currently being tested in New York City, San Francisco and Chicago. The package size is limited to shipments up to 50 pounds. UberRUSH does not deliver food a separate subsidiary called UberEats specializes in food delivery.

 

Go Share utilizes independent contractors with trucks for same day delivery. The company is currently delivering in San Diego, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami and Jersey City. The types of services offered include: Delivery Van, Furniture Delivery, Pallet Delivery, Same Day Delivery, Retail Delivery and Courier Delivery. Current customers include Costco, Pier1 Imports, ACE Hardware and Jerome’ Furniture.

 

Deliv provides same delivery service has a small business, enterprise and fresh divisions. Deliv serves over 35 major metro areas across the US. Prices start at $12.50 for a 3 hour delivery with over 4000 retailers and businesses listed as customers. Deliv has the largest footprint of the same day providers.

 

DHL e-commerce recently announced on March 15th, a new service for retailers in the United States called Parcel Metro. The service offers same day and next day delivery options. The new service utilizes a virtual delivery network with crowd sourced drivers. The service has been rolled out to Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, and will be launched later in the year in Dallas and Atlanta. Additional cities are planned to be rolled out.
